CloseTataki-Zome is an easy technique to capture the colors of flowers and plants onto fabric. Leaves and flowers are placed on mordanted fabric and “hammered” until their colors transfer to the fabric. This technique was born in Japan and literally means to dye (zome 染め) hammering (tataki たたき). Each participant will print a cotton bandana and learn the basics about the art of Tataki-Zome.
Participants are asked to bring a hammer, all other materials are provided. We will have an assortment of flowers and leaves and invite participants to bring plant materials they'd like to experiment with. For premium results flat single layer flowers work best. We do set up and clean up, you enjoy! Light refreshments will be provided.
This workshop will be held at our Kailua location.
